Dr Virginia Han

Principal Dental Surgeon & Lead Implant Clinician

Virginia leads the implant team at Brisbane Dental Implants. A University of Queensland graduate with Honours, her clinical work centres on implant surgery and oral rehabilitation.

Her approach begins with detailed 3D planning before treatment. She designs surgical guides in-house and plans implant position, depth and spacing around each patient's anatomy and proposed restoration.

Dr Sae Mi Bok

Dental Surgeon & Implant Dentist

Sae graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Dental Science in 2014. Her implant work in Bulimba focuses on surgical placement and the bone and gum tissue that support implants.

Her clinical interests include guided bone regeneration, sinus floor elevation and soft-tissue grafting. Her approach combines careful screening with explaining the preparation each patient may need before implant treatment.

Dr Elsa Zhu

Restorative Dentist

Dr Elsa Zhu holds a Bachelor of Dental Science with First Class Honours from the University of Queensland. Her role includes assessment and preparatory restorative care before implant surgery.

Elsa designs and fits custom zirconia crowns and multi-unit implant bridges. She works closely with our on-site lab to match each restoration for colour, shape, and bite. The aim is a result that looks natural and feels comfortable when you chew.

Dr Kieren Tso

Dentist (Honours)

Dr Kieren Tso graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland. He runs the diagnostic and screening stages of our implant care. He uses digital scanning and intraoral cameras to record your starting bite and to track early healing as the implant settles in.

Kieren reviews dental and medical history as part of assessment, including health conditions and medicines that may affect treatment planning. He records the findings and coordinates with the implant team.

Mr Dennis Han

Oral Health Therapist & Periodontal Coordinator

Dennis Han holds a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy from Griffith University and a Graduate Certificate in Dental Therapy (Advanced Clinical Practice) from the University of Melbourne. He leads supportive implant hygiene and periodontal care.

Dennis provides gum assessments, professional cleaning and guidance for daily home care. He works with the treating dentist on maintenance needs and further assessment where required.

3D-Guided Surgery

We plan every implant in 3D before surgery. High-resolution CBCT scans and digital mouth scans build a clear model of your jaw. With this model, we can:

Map your bone, tooth roots, and sinus spaces.
Make a custom surgical guide on-site.
Place the implant within a fraction of a millimetre of the plan.

Careful planning protects nearby tissue and supports faster, more predictable healing.

A Stable Foundation First

An implant lasts when it sits in healthy bone and firm gum tissue. So we treat weak sites first. Preparatory care may include:

Socket preservation after a tooth is removed.
Guided bone regeneration to rebuild bone.
Soft-tissue grafting to thicken the gum.

What specific training and qualifications do your implant clinicians hold?

Virginia, Sae, Elsa and Kieren hold Bachelor of Dental Science qualifications from the University of Queensland. Dennis is an oral health therapist with a Bachelor of Oral Health Therapy from Griffith University and a Graduate Certificate in Dental Therapy (Advanced Clinical Practice) from the University of Melbourne. Who performs the surgical and restorative phases of my implant treatment?

We manage both stages in one coordinated plan. Our surgical leads, Dr Virginia Han or Dr Sae Mi Bok, place the titanium implant and focus on bone stability and accurate position. Our restorative dentist, Dr Elsa Zhu, then designs and fits the custom zirconia crown, working with our in-house lab to get the bite and appearance right.

Our on-site lab lets our clinicians work side by side with the technicians. Instead of sending models or scans to an outside lab, they review files together, design custom abutments, and match colour and shade by hand. This close teamwork helps crowns fit more predictably and cuts down on repeat appointments.

Are all materials and implants used in your Bulimba clinic approved for use in Australia?

Yes. We use only Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) registered implants, titanium abutments, and dental ceramics. We work with trusted brands such as MIS and Astra Tech, both supported by long-term peer-reviewed research. We keep full traceability records for every patient.

How do you ensure clinical procedures meet Australian health guidelines?

Digital systems track autoclave sterilisation cycles. Our team can explain the infection-control procedures used for your treatment. We also use 3D CBCT imaging to map structures such as nerve pathways and sinus cavities before surgery, so each step is planned with accuracy.

Can older patients or those with existing health conditions safely get dental implants?

Yes. Older patients can have implants when their general health is stable. During screening, Dr Kieren Tso reviews medical history, bone density, and risk factors such as controlled diabetes or certain medicines. If the jawbone is thin, our surgeons can discuss bone grafting to build a secure base.
